Last month I thought I would try my hand at using texture within my painting for the first time. I think the only way to develop as an artist is to experiment little and often, and see how it can open my mind up to other ideas. Using a palette knife was also a new experience, and the only tool I felt would be right to keep within the control of my style. I choose to apply the texture to my florals, as they are an organic shape to flow with and more intricate. It was a challenge for sure, but I'm so glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone because I'm happy with the outcome and it's development into a triptych.
